Multi-Engine and Single-Engine Instrument (IFR) Training Programs M

Adam's ADF Simulator

Training with WCA takes the guesswork out of instrument flying. Whether you are looking for your Group 1 multi-ifr rating or a Group 3 single-engine instrument rating, our professionally-designed training programs provide the most efficient and effective environment.

For your multi-instrument training, we combine our well-equipped, IFR approved, PA30 and a state-of-the-art Elite simulator (Flight Training Device, FTD) to provide the best possible IFR training environment. Our single-engine IFR program combines simulator training in an advanced A36 Bonanza with the aircraft portion in a C172.

All our programs have been developed by professional pilots that have flown thousands of IFR hours. Our instructors are IFR specialists that use scenario-based training techniques and we encourage training flights in actual-IFR whenever possible. When you are looking at schools for your IFR training ask them who developed their IFR program and what kind of IFR experience the instructors have.

"We want our students to feel comfortable flying IFR when they complete our program. Passing the IFR flight test is a checkbox for your rating - not a goal of the training." John MacMillan, President, West Capital Aviation.

Why use a Simulator?

Although hourly rates for the simulator are less than the actual aircraft, cost-savings is not why the simulator is important. Each training hour in the simulator provides a focussed and efficient environment for more effective training than the actual aircraft. Scenario-based training techniques are especially effective with simulator sessions because from start-to-finish the simulator flight is treated as an actual flight with weather, traffic control, and instrument/equipment failures.

"It is really satisfying to see how well our students do when they get in the actual aircraft after completing the simulator portion of the program." John MacMillan, President, West Capital Aviation.

From the first lesson, we emphasize the use of autopilot and GPS. By the time you're done you'll be comfortable with the use of both. Our aircraft is equipped with a two axis STEC50 autopilot coupled to a Garmin GNS 430 moving map GPS and both are Transport Canada approved for IFR approaches.
